We held the closing event of the AgriGenomics Center – Animal and Plant Genomics Research Innovation Center Project (AgriGx)
The closing event of the “AgriGenomics Center – Animal and Plant Genomics Research Innovation Center Project” (AgriGx), funded by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye under the Competitive Sectors Programme implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, was successfully held. Ankara University Technokent served as the beneficiary institution of the project, while BYS Grup acted as the project implementer.
We completed our AgriGx project — one of the most significant examples of innovative agriculture initiatives in Türkiye — with the closing meeting held in Ankara on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. The project established the “Agrigenomics HUB – Animal and Plant Genomics Research Innovation Center.”
The opening speeches of the meeting, attended by stakeholders from the public sector, academia, and private industry, were delivered by Mr. Ahmet Halit Hatip, Director General for EU and Foreign Affairs at the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Industry and Technology, and Prof. Dr. Necdet Ünüvar, Rector of Ankara University.
With a total budget of €5.4 million, the Agrigenomics Hub AgriGx established within the scope of the project stands out as a biotechnology center with the potential to operate at a global scale, thanks to its advanced technological infrastructure and the services it provides.
Aiming to strengthen Türkiye’s agri-food infrastructure, AgriGx offers all actors within the agri-food ecosystem opportunities to expand biotechnology and productivity-oriented activities. At the same time, it supports researchers and SMEs in transforming their innovative ideas into commercial outcomes.
