Under the “Resilience: Multisectoral Earthquake Response in Adıyaman Türkiye” programme, the consultancy strengthened local disaster management and disaster risk reduction (DRR) capacity in Adıyaman—prioritising rural areas in Besni, Gölbaşı and Merkez—following the 2023 earthquakes that severely affected 11 provinces. The assignment targeted municipal staff and local stakeholders and delivered a participatory training and planning process that culminated in a municipality-owned DRR Plan. Activities were carried out within the overall project window (March 2024–May 2025), with the consultancy’s operational schedule commencing with briefing on 13 November 2024, preparation from 18 November 2024, field training and DRR-plan co-development from 16–20 December 2024, an online debrief on 24 December 2024, draft reporting on 27 December 2024, feedback on 31 December 2024, incorporation on 2 January 2025 and submission of the final report on 7 January 2025. Methodologically, the work combined baseline and endline testing, tailored training module development, and structured training reports, applied through a participatory approach. In total, training was provided for 30 unique participants drawn primarily from the municipality, complemented by guidance to co-draft a practical DRR Plan reflecting local stakeholder inputs and needs. Delivery proceeded under the supervision of Solidar Suisse’s Response Representative in Gaziantep and in close coordination with Solidar Suisse HQ/Türkiye teams and project donors (Swiss Solidarity / AWO International / Solidar Suisse). |
